Day #19: Helette

Mum is over at out house to watch the weans and Dad called. I had a quick word and he spoke quickly to the kids. He sounds as though he is still thoroughly enjoying the experiance. He then told Granny the news for today:
"110km today, 1458km in total. More than he had planned. Got to Cambo and started looking for accomodtion. Couldn't find any and had to go a further 30km to Helette, a beautiful place, (near Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port where Michael started the Camino de Santiago from) where he got a hotel (€40.00). He says he is really exhausted. Weather miserable - got soaked this morning and this afternoon was misty and overcast. He should be in Spain tomorrow."

Mum just got a text:
Recovered now!! Just had a great bath.

Don't take so much out of yourself. Why don't you take it easy when the weather is bad? According to the forecast, your part of Spain is going to be rainy for a few more days. Sorry about that. It is dull here today too, although as usual no rain. Everyone is coming up today for the Sunday paella. Hope you will be joining us soon. love Eileen XXXX

Oh, Dios mio!!!!!Have just seen Helette on the map and it looks like you are going to go over the Pyrenees instead of round about through Irun. Talk about "mad dogs and Scotsmen". Hard going I imagine, but beautiful countryside. We are the champions, my friend.
